Fourth Day!

The last day on the river, Mrs. Betty Shiver took us on a nature hike by the river. We rode the Mule on the Morgan's part of the river. It was really interesting learning about different types of trees and leaves. I now can identify trees by there leaves and bark. We found many tracks, and a dead hawk in a tree. Mrs. Betty Shiver told us about the past and how she grew up on the river. She really knows what she is talking about, and it was great for her to share it with us.

Third Day!

Today, Mrs. Jenni Smith took my group to the Morgan's part of the river to look for critters. It was really fun and interesting because I've never done that before, or anything like that. We found many things. We found beetles, a bumble bee, spiders, midges, big black ants, turtles, animal tracks, poop, mussel shells and many more things. Our group caught the first snail, and crawfish. Kara and I caught it, it scared me too death though. After catching everything we loaded up and headed to… Continue

Second day!

The second day of the Flint River Project, my group and I went kayaking with Mrs. Good and Mrs. Linda Morgan. It was really fun. I've also never been kayaking, so it was a new experience for me. Lee and I rode in a kayak together, because I didn't trust myself by myself since I've never done it before. Thankfully we didn't flip the kayak, but we did come across something scary. After floating down the river a while, we came across some rapids and rocks. Lee told me to paddle right so we… Continue

First day!

The first day of the Flint River Project, my group and I went out on a Pontoon boat with Mr. Joe Curles. It was really fun and interesting being out on the river, learning new things. We got to go to four different sites on the river to get water samples. Tayler and I were in charge of the temperature, so that was neat. After riding on the boat for an hour or so and getting our samples, we gathered our things and went back to the school, so we could start testing the water! We got to test the… Continue
