Share your most interesting memory of the Flint River
I remember skiing on the Flint below the county line landing. We would ski past rocks and over snakes.
The most interesting thing I have ever done on the Flint was scuba dive the blue hole about a mile north of the Pineland landing. The spring is located through a 3 foot wide split in the rock wall. Behind the wall is a cave about 45 feet deep and across. At the bottom of the cave is a tunnel that goes across and under the river and back twice. This underwater tunnel was explored by Paul Deloach.
Diving in the cave you see hundreds of bream and baby fish of all kinds. My son once saw a catfish that was his size diving this same cave.He is 6'2'' tall. The catfish was at the entrance of the underriver tunnel.
While walking the river bank in Mitchell Co we have found Woolymammoth (sp) and shark's teeth.

Welcome to the project. The next few weeks will be mainly organization and planning. The map looks great. We have it hanging in the high school building - spurred lots of interest. Remember, we are open to all suggestions and help. Betty
