Share your most interesting memory of the Flint River
When I was young, about 12, Dad threw me in and had me swim across and back. I cannot remember whether I had a life vest on or not. I can remember being afraid to stay long on the other side because of snakes. He said "you can't live in South Georgia if you haven't swum across the Flint." I do think I wore a life vest because I also remember him telling me how many people have died in the river!

When I swam back across, I was very far downstream. I wonder if the pollution has made it unsafe to swim in the river now!

Flint River Project Day 1

Today was very busy as we all worked to get to our locations. Hope, Jordan, and I went to downtown Camilla this morning and were able to interview both Mr. Dan Bollinger, Director of Southwest Georgia RDC and Keith Jones, Mitchell County Commissioner. Additionally, I interviewed Hope and Jordan about what they hope to accomplish with their documentary.

Getting ready for next week!

Hope and Jordan worked so hard today getting our preproduction checklists and post production checklists in order. -- Boy, I've got to clean out the Durango just to make room for all of the equipment.

This project has pushed me to learn how to do several new things already with the video camera as well as getting out the lenses and learning how to use the tripod.

River Stage Road - Understanding the Origins of transportation on and around the River

As the math group looks at flooding and the transportation and bridges around the river, page 34 of the Mitchell county history talks about the River Stage Road.
