The River Way
Many times I've thought about
River life and its meaning
Where it ebbs and where it flows
Never endlessly careening

The peaceful way it seems to speak
Bringing life to the deadest of places
Its rippling current bubbling by
In it all I see are different faces

For it is here on the banks
I truly understand
The way of life we've come to forget
Is written here in the sand

Today in this world we overlook our past
The way of life we used to think
Would forever last

Here as I search in this place
The trees so softly sway
All that I see for miles and miles
Is the picture of endless grace

I wrote this poem as i sat by the rivers edge, taking in its natural beauty. I thought about how much we take the Flint River for granted and channeled that into the lines of this. We need to start thinking of how much the Flint brings our community together.
